Inshore, pay close attention to water movement and oxygen because the bite can change fast from one stretch of water to the next.
View report →Inshore Fishing: Treat Mobile Bay as an oxygen-and-water-movement problem first. Flounder and trout were present, but the productive water changed sharply when weak tide, heat, stratification, and jubilees shifted fish.
Surf & Beach Fishing: Start with whiting and pompano on bottom rigs, then keep a fast lure ready for bluefish and Spanish mackerel when bait schools move within casting range.
Nearshore / Pier Fishing: Let visible bait, surface strikes, and diving birds tell you where to cast. Bluefish and Spanish mackerel are working the beach-to-nearshore edge, but there is not enough fresh pier action to call a dependable pier bite.
